THIS FIVE BEDROOM SUMMER RESIDENCE WAS DESIGNED FOR A COUPLE WITH THREE CHILDREN IN A GATED COMMUNITY CLOSE BY THE BEACH. THE MAIN CONCEPT OF THE PROJECT WAS TO PLACE THE LIVING ROOM IN THE CENTRE OF THE HOUSE, SO THAT, ALL PARTS OF THE HOUSE COMMUNICATES WITH EACH OTHER AND THE FAMILY INTERACTS.
ON THE GROUND FLOOR, A FRONT PORCH ENCOURAGES TRADITIONAL MOMENTS OF INTERACTION WITH NEIGHBOURS. THIS BALCONY IS FULLY INTEGRATED WITH THE LIVING AND THE DINING ROOM, WHICH IS ALSO INTEGRATED WITH THE KITCHEN, THE BARBECUE AREA, THE GARDEN AND THE SPA IN THE BACK.
WE REACH THE SECOND FLOOR BY A STAIRCASE IN EXPOSED CONCRETE CANTILEVER SET IN A WALL OF THE SAME MATERIAL. ABOVE THE LIVING ROOM A CENTRAL VOID – WHERE THE STUDY DESK ACTS AS THE SILL- DIVIDES THE COUPLE’S MASTER BEDROOM AT THE FRONT AND THE CHILDREN AT THE BACK OF THE HOUSE.
THE BUILDING SILHOUETTE IS A WHITE PRISM INTERSECTED BY A BRICK VOLUME. ADDED TO THESE ARE ON ONE SIDE AN EXPOSED CONCRETE WALL, IN WHICH THE STAIRCASE IS SET, AND ON THE OTHER A PERGOLA – IN THE SAME MATERIAL THAT SERVES AS A SHELTER FOR PARKING THE VEHICLES.
